Buenos Aires, Argentina
The park, the squares, the buildings
The project seeks through the articulation of a set of volumes to characterize a series of urban spaces that are identified as a whole as the city of science.
Like its predecessor, the Conicet headquarters building, this intervention promotes a permeability between the new park and Godoy cruz street and articulates spaces of use that animate both fronts, invite to walk through the whole, and propose an ecosystem of innovation.
The project proposes 2 public spaces, an esplanade towards Godoy cruz and an access plaza, annexed to the park.
The urban esplanade towards Godoy Cruz moderates the scarcity of public spaces in the Palermo neighborhood. It is a mostly dry space capable of hosting different open uses related to the dissemination of science to the community. It is the urban atrium of the city of science, from which one can perceive the dialogue of the buildings with the neighborhood, and the community situations that the complex promotes in that dialogue.
The access plaza, complementary to the park, is a space animated by the accesses to the various buildings and equipped with a large gastronomic space. This space is intended to be the meeting place of the science city. An open place, which in the connection between the park and the city, consolidates the public space through various outreach activities.
The buildings
The building design allows us to imagine a gradual evolution of the works. Independent works that can develop over time, whose great flexibility of development and plastic diversity give them the capacity to adapt to the production conditions of the future.
